WHO AND WHAT ARE THE SENATORS?
The Ontario Columbian Squires Provincial Board Senators Club is comprised of the former provincial Squires
officers who have served at least one full term as an officer. The membership is comprised of all former Provincial
Board Members, Provincial Father Priors, State Squires Chairmen and Area Chairmen.
Most Senators are also members of the Knights of Columbus, but membership in the Knights of Columbus is not
required to be a Senator.
The Senators Club is involved in activities that support the maintenance, growth and development of the Squires
Program in Ontario. The Squires Program has touched the lives of thousands of young men and counsellors over
the years, and Senators are men who were particularly involved at the highest level of leadership in the Province.
They work to ensure that the Squires program continues to be in existence, so that today's young men have the
same opportunities for involvement as they did in their youth.

The Sentors Club has been in existence for many decades. However, it was decided in 1993 that the Club should
become more organized, and the first Executive of the Club was elected. The Charter Executive of the
Senators Club of Ontario was comprised of: Jeff Beach, President; Arthur Peters, Secretary and Rick
Huczel, Treasurer. A Club Executive has presided over the activities of the Senators Club from that time to the
present day. The position of Vice President was added some years later to allow for more involvement from other
members. Although any official Senators Club member may be elected as Vice-President, Secretary or Treasurer,
only a Past Squires Provincial Board Officer may be elected President.
Over the years, the Senators Club has been involved in activities such as: bingos and other methods of raising
funds for the Squires program, planning, organizing and funding the Annual Squires Conventions (working with the
Provincial Board and State Team), organizing and funding the annual Squires Camp Workshop weekends,
organizing and funding Counsellors and Area Chairmen workshops, holding Squires reunions, promoting the
Squires program within the Knights of Columbus and many more activities designed to assist the program in
Ontario.
